Halter is a New Zealand based technology company that builds devices that enable farmers to shift and manage their livestock, remotely from a smart device. The company’s objective is to help meet the future food demand levels through sustainable production. Halter makes a band that is placed around the neck of a cow, providing audio and vibrational cues to guide the cows. This allows automation of cow movements and strip-grazing and proactively alerts farmers when cows are lame, calving or on heat. Ultimately the system reduces labour requirements, increases milk production, enhances the welfare of cows and enables farmers to operate more sustainably.
