Explainable AI - Habib Baluwala - Data Scientist at Soltius NZ Limited
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is everywhere. From scoring your credit score to recommending movies for your NetFlix, from detecting fraudulent transactions on your debit card to diagnosing diseases. AI is swiftly replacing humans in many critical decision-making functions. However, AI currently has one weakness which can lead to its downfall. “A lack of Explanation.”
Humans can explain their decisions but AI systems cannot. This lack of explanation prevents the imposition of accountability on AI for their decisions. With EU in the process of implementing “Right to Explanation” legislation, “Explainable AI” has become a legal necessity.
This talk will focus on why we need Explainable AI, implications of “Right to Explanation” and the current status of “Explainable AI.”
Habib Baluwala is a Data Scientist at Soltius NZ limited. He received an M.Sc. and Ph.D. in Engineering Science from University of Oxford (U.K.). Habib is on a mission to introduce NZ businesses to the world of AI and help them become data-driven organizations. With more than 7+ years of experience in AI and Data Science, Habib specializes in NLP, image processing, deep learning and reinforcement learning.
